Can you share your experience and achievements in MUN?

My MUN experience can be compared as a roller coaster ride. It was fun and sometimes scary.

It helped me gain practical communication skills.

To talk of about achievements, there are quite a few. I've won best delegate at DCJMUN 2015 (my second MUN). I received position paper award, special award, diplomat award as well as special mentions. Also, a notable achievement would be to gain exposure and learn by interacting with a lot of people. However the biggest achievement is personal growth since, I got to learn that failure is in fact a portal towards success.

What do you like the most about MUN?

MUN is a platform to test out original ideas in terms of making and proposing policies, solutions towards problems around the world. That's what I like about MUN.

How much has MUN helped you grow?

I had a good positive growth. MUN enabled me to sharpen my communication skills and to some extent helped me overcome shyness.

Feelings about AUWMUNS till date

I feel guided by AUWIMUNS every year since each year I get to learn new stuffs. It's a trampoline that takes you higher each time when one gets involved with it or at least that's my opinion.

What are the things that you find interesting about MUNs?

Getting the opportunity to make new friends, gaining knowledge on global issues, and debating are the things about MUN that interests me the most. Moreover, representing a country and actively playing the role of its leader is equally interesting as we get to know more about their culture and their stance.

What motivates you to participate in the MUN conferences?

From the very first time, I saw my talented seniors of the AUWMUN Club confidently speaking and going to various conferences and that inspired me to want to be as bold and confident like them. It motivated me to attend the mock sessions and involve myself to evolve myself.

How was your AUWIMUN experience?

It was a great opportunity to have been pat of AUWIMUN’18 as it was the very first MUN conference that I took part in and it was amazing to witness the level of enthusiasm and passion in the other delegates. It also increased my respect and love towards MUN and pushed me to do more ofthem in the future.

What is one suggestion you would like to give to the people participating in MUN Conferences?

I want to encourage people to participate in the MUN conferences as it doesn’t matter how many MUN conferences you have attended. I’ve seen number of MUNers doing really well in their first MUN itself.  It truly is an experience worth experiencing.

How has MUN helped you grow and in which fields has the growth been reflected?

Honestly, being a shy and an introvert person, I could never imagine myself talking in front of a hall full of audience, a room full of delegates, or even asking questions as a reporter to the Dias. I have had remarkable changes in myself starting from being confident, diplomatic, more open-minded and definitely more knowledgeable regarding international politics and the role of journalism. MUNs have helped me reach that stage where I could never picture myself before!

Could you share your favorite memory from the AUWIMUN conference?

Definitely the moment when I was called upon stage for receiving the Best Correspondent Award. The IPC in AUWIMUN 2018 was one of the most competitive IPCs with all the talented and experienced delegates and competing with them was a huge challenge, I must say!

Any words of wisdom for the aspiring diplomats who are taking part in AUWIMUN 2019 and other such MUNs in Bangladesh?

Love what you do and you will get the result eventually. If you want a diverse, International MUN experience in Bangladesh, AUWIMUN is the best option you can go for. The experience you will gain will be a lifetime experience because like every other MUN, it has its own beautiful individuality. Grab the opportunity to get diversified in the most festive manner!

How would you describe your MUN experience and could you share your achievements till date?

I fell in love with MUN on the first glance(first speech in this case). I love everything about it, starting from the heated verbal exchanges to the betrayals of the UNMODs, from the performances of the socials to the losing of control in the gala parties. A MUN journey is like a rollercoaster, but these very ups and downs keep the MUN lifeline ever-living.

What is the one thing about MUN, that attracts you and pushes you to continue doing MUNs?

Ans: Like I mentioned before, there are a lot of things that attract me towards MUNning. It will be difficult to pinpoint that spectrum of joy to a particular assumption, but if it really was to be done, I would say the debate. There is a wide confusion from non-Munners regarding what the difference of MUN is from actual debate. But I will say, the MUN is debate and so much more. Also, debate is two-dimensional, whereas MUN is multidimensional, teaching everyone to sometimes take sides that go against their own personal policies and moralities. MUN teaches one to walk in another's shoes, and that is successfully pulled off through the debate.

How has MUN helped you grow and in which fields has the growth been reflected?

MUN helped me to increase my social awareness and gave me a base of how to grasp the ongoing events and crisis on the international stage. It demolished my stage-fright and made me who I am today, an individual who can go on any stage and deliver any speech on any topic for any particular amount of time (the guests during the opening ceremonies of any MUN conference should do MUNs too to learn to talk in a fixed limit of time).

How was your experience in that AUWMUN?

Both the conferences were absolutely amazing. The quality of the committees, the delegates, the dais members and the secretariat members and their contributions will appeal every new and old delegate to visit the campus for another conference for all days to come. The hospitality of the AUW team and the progressive competition of the conference makes AUWMUN one of the best conferences in Bangladesh till date.

Any words of wisdom for the aspiring diplomats who are taking part in AUWIMUN 2019 and other such MUNs in Bangladesh?

Research well, but most of all just have fun. You are participating in one of the best conferences by putting to use both your time and also your money. So you should absorb every bit of what the conference has to offer, take every opportunity to turn the tides in the sessions and fight till the end. Basically, work hard and play hard.
